This Week’s Events!
On Thursday, 9/28, we’re going to be having a hummus pop up! Be sure to stop by right outside Anabel Taylor Hall from 3-5 for some pita chip and hummus samples! There will also be ingredients to purchase if you’d like to make your own hummus at home.
Our own apple fest!
Here at Anabel’s we love apples and getting to show you all the beautiful varieties they come in! This week we will have
Fyrefly Apples
This apple is more on the tart side and offers a great crunch! We recommend this apple for cooking with due to its tart flavor profile or as a snack if you enjoy a less sweet apple!
Zestar Apples
This breed of apple is known for its unique flavor good for eating fresh or for use in baked goods! It is sweet and tangy with hints of brown sugar. It is praised for having a longer than average shelf life (up to 2 months unrefrigerated). These apples were first bred at the University of Minnesota and are a popular variety in the Midwest.
Honeycrisp Apples
Another Minnesota apple! And A fall time classic (thank you University of Minnesota)! These apples have a beautiful mix of red yellow and green in their skin. They are crisp, sweet, and juicy! Perfect for a snack on their own or a star on your next cheese plate.
Keep an eye out for…
Shishito peppers, brussels sprouts, and decorative pumpkins!
This weeks Spicelight!
Drumroll please…. And the winner issssssss…
Dried shitake mushrooms!
These are a great way to get the nice umami flavor we love from mushrooms without having to keep fresh ones on hand! Umami is a savory almost meaty flavor profile that we see in foods. These dried mushrooms will stay good for months and are a convenient way to add mushrooms to your favorite dishes without an extra prep work. With the weather beginning to cool off we recommend adding these to the next soup you make! They add an extra depth of flavor to make your dish a star!
We hope to see you in the store this week!
