Keeping Up with AEM 3385!
Last week, AEM 3385 had the pleasure of welcoming two special guest speakers that work in tandem to bring our favorite Wide Awake bread: Thor Oechsner from Oechsner Farms and Stef Senders from Wide Awake Bakery.
Oechsner Farms produces a unique, local flour that Wide Awake Bakery uses to create artisanal loaves that the Ithaca community loves dearly. In the recounting of their journeys in the food industry, they stressed how important partnerships with other groups have been in their success. For example, GrowNYC Greenmarket was integral in promoting Oechsner Farms’ fresh, local flour to the Northeast market and in promoting Wide Awake Bakery as the bakery began teaching this new market how to optimize baked goods with Oechsner’s flour.
The class thoroughly loved learning from their experiences and ended the class enjoying some of Gary’s bread which is named in honor of Gary Redmond: another key supporter of both businesses. Check out Wide Awake’s bread this week to support Oechsner Farms and Wide Awake Bakery!
We look forward to seeing you all this week in Anabel’s Grocery! :)
