Hi friends,

Happy November! We hope you had a wonderful Halloween. 🎃

We have a lot of produce this week! Look forward to more bok choy, spinach, kale, gai lan (Chinese broccoli), honeynut squash, and more.

Other products to check out:

  • Mushrooms

  • White Cauliflower

  • Maple Syrup 🥞

  • Wide Awake Bread

  • Cornell Bread Club 🍞

New Product spotlight: Harrow’s Crisp Pears

  • They are full of a variety of nutrients including Vitamin C and K. 🍐

  • Other than enjoying them fresh, they can be enjoyed in a simple pear crisp! This recipe is for about 3 servings, but can be easily adjusted to different serving sizes.

    • Start by combining around 3 peeled, sliced pears with ½ tsp vanilla, ¾ tsp cinnamon, ⅛ tsp nutmeg, and ⅛ tsp salt.

    • Make a crumble topping by combining ½ a stick of softened salted butter (¼ cup), ¼ cup of flour, ¼ cup of oats, ¼ cup of sugar, and ⅛ tsp of salt.

    • An optional addition is pecans, almonds, or extra oats.

    • Place the pears in a baking dish and spread the crumble mixture over the pears.

    • Bake at 350℉ until golden brown (time can range based on size) and let it cool for about 10 to 15 mins before enjoying!

Food Justice Corner: Wildflower Farm

This week in class we had the pleasure of speaking with Cristina Mead, owner of Wildflower Farm. The farm is located in Enfield, NY where the Mead family raises grass-fed cattle. Their main priority is to contribute to our local food system in a sustainable way. They rotate the cattle throughout their pasture allowing nutrients to naturally cycle through the land. Their management incorporates what is best for the environment and their animals’ welfare. They work to provide local meat to the area, which can be found at Anabel’s!
