Hey Everyone! Hope you had a wonderful halloweekend! It’s another week of exciting Anabel’s events and new produce in our store! Hope you all were able to treat yourself over the weekend and had time to boost your spirits.
New Produce!
We’re welcoming in more fall produce this week! Napa cabbage, escarole, pumpkins, eggplants, red bell peppers, strawberry and grape jams, and other fresh produce! We’re also stocking up on tamales, deli pickles, pita pockets, pita and tortilla chips, and pumpkin pies (specifically coming on Friday)! Hope to see you all in the store sometime this week!
As a reminder, bring your own containers to buy bulk goods and get a 15% discount :) This includes spices, eggs, tofu, or any of the bulk bin products. Help us save plastic and we will help you save money!
Recipe Corner:
In the spirit of Halloween, we’d like to share with you a few halloween/fall-esque recipes! Kudos to Ainsley and Dylan for sharing these pumpkin-themed dessert recipes that will make you gourd crazy!
Note: Anabel’s is selling pumpkins this week, so be sure to drop by to pick up ingredients for these yummy treats (or tricks)!
Sustainable Pumpkins:
Did you know that 70% of pumpkins end up in landfill every fall season?
Keep your jack-o-lanterns out of the trash and compost them instead!
Bring your unpainted pumpkins to one of the following locations THIS FRIDAY, November 5th, anytime between 10-4pm:
North Campus: In front of 626 Thurston Ave
West Campus: Green between Bethe & Rose Houses
This PUMPKIN COMPOST drop-off event is brought to you by the collaborative efforts of Cornell Compost and the Residential Sustainability Leaders :-)
Cornell Compost Club Elections:
Apply to Cornell Compost Club's E-board by THIS FRIDAY! Join our team and help us reduce food waste on campus, whether by leading an event or project, serving as a club liaison, helping facilitate meetings and guiding our club's agenda, and more!
More info here, and the link to the application is here.
We hope to see you there!
Upcoming Events:
We hosted a successful tofu tasting event at Anabel’s last Friday, offering a barbecue tofu and a soy sauce-marinated tofu to customers in the store!
This week, we are co-hosting a Pumpkin to Pie event this weekend with the Food Science Club! Unfortunately the event is full, but if you’ve signed up, we can’t wait to see you at Stocking Hall on Sunday, November 7th!
Hudson UP
HudsonUP is providing $500 each month to selected Hudson residents over a period of 5 years. The program has been designed to benefit the Hudson community and demonstrate the power of basic income for all. For one year, we have had 25 participants, and now we’re adding an additional 50 to cover over 1% of Hudson’s population. We believe strongly that Universal Basic Income (UBI) is going to be a (if not the) pivotal tool in ending poverty in a dignified way.
Join this live session to learn about why we need UBI and how our community-driven model has impacted Hudson.
